EARNEST EAGLE SIMPLIFIES THE NUMBERS
The Census Bureau, in 1980, enumerated the population of the United States at 226.5 million. Now, 2006, they say
the population is 300.3 million. It appears that the bureau has no accurate data on how many, in the count, were
illegal residents then or now.
In 1980 the federal budget was $590 Billion. The current federal budget is $2.4 Trillion. Put another way, the current
budget is $2,400 Billion. That’s a big number and a huge increase!
Doing the simple math, budget divided by population, [1980 = $2,609.00] [2006 = $7,992.00] results in some really
scary numbers about a government that is spending 4 times more today than in 1980.
Consider this, the administration of George W. Bush has demonstrated no restraint regarding spending. And you
just elected the party who never met an entitlement increase, program, or piece of pork, they didn’t like, to congress.
I surely hope you don’t expect the numbers to improve by 2008.
But I’ll bet by then you will be ready to get your fiscal house, your White House, and your House of Representatives
in order before the recession worsens.
